MedStar Georgetown University Hospital is one of the largest healthcare providers in the Washington, DC, area. While we offer an extensive array of healthcare services, our centers of excellence include cancer care, neurosciences, gastroenterology, orthopedics, and transplant.

Among our well-respected service lines, are a few programs we are particularly proud of. At MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, we take pride in our infection prevention Program of Distinction designated by APIC that protects patients while they are in our hospital and decreases the chances of returning due to preventable causes. Our research engine, Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, is the only comprehensive cancer center in the Washington, D.C., region as designated by the National Cancer Institute (NCI). We are the first hospital to offer Proton Therapy in the Washington, D.C. area. MedStar Georgetown Transplant Institute has one of the highest volume transplant programs in the United States. We hold a FACT Accreditation for Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplantation. Also, we are among an elite set of hospitals to be granted Magnet® Recognition by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, a designation given for demonstrating excellence in nursing care, innovative professional nursing practice, and nursing satisfaction.
